LATE BLIGHT PATHOLOGY RESEARCH AT CIP
The work discussed here is that done by the late blight pathology team coordinated by Greg Forbes. CIP?s late blight pathology work is primarily divided into five areas of research. You can get an overview of the activities in each area at the links below, or get a general overview of all the activities in a logical framework format. For a glossier, less scientific, description of our work, see this. Research areas
- Targeting late blight research and impact assessment
- Training farmers, extension workers and researchers
- Understanding epidemiology and pathogen dynamics
- Developing B management tools
- Enhancing selection of durable LB resistance.
The team has also produced a number of publications that can be found by simple searchers under author name at the CIP Library Web page. Hard or PDF copies will be sent upon request to interested parties from developing countries. Others should contact the author directly.
This work is carried out at CIP HQ in Lima Peru, CIP?s Andean highland station in Quito, Ecuador and CIP?s office in Nairobi, Kenya.
Much of the late blight work at CIP is directed toward the development of new potato varieties with durable resistance to P. infestans, which is done primarily within the Germplasm Enhancement and Crop Improvement Division. For more information contact Dr. M. Bonierbale.
