Third International Late Blight Conference - China 2008
02.05.08 Age: 2 yrs
The Third International LB Conference held in Beijing from 3-5 April, 2008, sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the International Potato Center and GILB was a great success. One hundred fifty four people attended representing 34 countries. PDF files of presentations and posters are now online.
The Third International LB Conference that was held in Beijing from 3-5 April, 2008, was by all accounts (at least all I've received so far) a very successful event. There were very stimulating presentations and discussions, and great Chinese tradition, culture and hospitality provided an unforgettable context (a bit more on what happened ).
So now there are at least two important things we in the GILB coordination group must do: 1) provide access for all to the information presented at the conference, and 2) move forward on the idea of a real late blight initiative. For #1, we have put PDFs of all the presentations and posters on the Web here . We did this on the original Wiki page used for the program which already included the abstracts. Please follow the link below if you want to have access to this information. If you did present a poster or orally please ensure that your information is posted.
Still in the context of getting the information out, and in a more formal way, I will (must!) soon get coordinated for the proceedings. Some keynote speakers have already sent their papers. Instructions for authors are here.
As for #2 - moving forward with the initiative – Since the meeting several reseachers have been developing a draft of a framework for reserach for a global R&D initiative. Some more information on that here.
